Yesterday proved to be a nightmare commute to work for many Londoners after the capital was hit by the 24-hour Underground strike. The Circle line was completely suspended, while the Jubilee, Bakerloo, District, Victoria, Hammersmith and City, Metropolitan, Central, and Piccadilly lines all encountered part suspensions.

The strikes by the RMT and TSSA unions came in response to the news that sweeping cuts were to be meted out to ticket office staff. The London Underground claimed that around 40 per cent of the capital’s 500 tube stations were operating despite the strike but the majority of Londoners still had to get to and from work on the Overground, by bicycles, on foot, by river transport, by taxis, by buses or by their own vehicles.

Frustration was felt by the majority and overcrowding on the public transport that was operating made the commute even more agonising.

We want to know what you thought of the recent strike and how affected you were in your journey. How did you get to work yesterday? How delayed were you? Share your thoughts and experiences with the rest of the community.
