England Win But Were They Convincing?

England played their penultimate friendly game before the

World Cup last night against Mexico at Wembley. The Three Lions ended the game

as 3-1 winners but the scoreline was rather flattering because England were

clearly not at their best.

Mexico enjoyed more possession in the game, had more shots

and more corners. Some people may argue that it doesn’t matter how badly we

played, we still won the match. Although true it doesn’t bode well for our

chances against stronger opposition we may face at the World Cup. What’s your

view on this?

The 30-man squad fly back to their training camp in Austria

tomorrow; then they play one final warm-up game against Japan on Sunday. A week

today Fabio Capello has to make his decision on who to leave out as he must

trim the squad down to a final 23-man squad that will make the plane to South

Africa. It is no doubt going to be an extremely tough decision. Which seven

players would you leave behind?

We’d love to hear your thoughts from last night’s game and

what you make of England’s chances at the tournament. Who would you have in the

starting line-up? Leave your comments below.

We should take a positive from last night's game. Ok, so England didn't play at their best but we still managed a 3-1 win. Imagine what the score would have been if we had played our best! I'm sure all the players want to perform their best in the friendlies and in training to impress Fabio but they must have the worry of risking injury before the tournament at the back of their mind's as well. I still think there's a lot more to come from the England team. Let's just hope we see it at the World Cup.
