Westminster MP Candidate has vowed not to take salary if elected

With the story unveiled earlier this week of the Hackney South and Shoreditch MP Candidate's "Direct Digital Democracy", it seems newspaper editor Dennis Delderfield has gone one step further with the announcement that he will not claim his salary if he is elected.
The candidate has pledged to donate all of his £65,737 wages to the Help the Heroes charity if he becomes an MP at the General Election. The post is currently held by Tory MP Mark Field and Delderfield is running as an independent candidate. The reason behind this radical thinking is, he says, because he is fed up with MPs claiming huge salaries.
His policies include tightening the expenditure on the 2012 Olympics. Delderfield is also in favour of a referendum as to whether the UK should remain a member of the EU.
What do you think of this? Would this be enough incentive for you to vote for the candidate? Share your thoughts below.

ReportIts a nice gesture but really only an election gimmick. I can't believe that people won't see through that. I want an MP who represents me and my beliefs and I don't mind the fact that he is paid relatively to do that. Keep the expenses in check though, that's all I ask!
