Election Day is finally here and it has brought the

sun with it. On a blisteringly hot spring day, the community has taken to the

local polling stations to cast their votes on who will become our next Prime

Minister.

On what could possibly be the most important day of

the year for our country, and one which marks a vitally important decision we

make to outline our near future, the locals of Pimlico attended their

designated polling station to vote for the party they would like to see next in

power. A hung parliament is still a very real possibility with this year’s

general election being the closest to call in years. Nick Clegg, David Cameron

and Gordon Brown have changed history by taking part in live debates, the first

our nation has ever seen. Since the last live debate, which took place last

Thursday, the leading party candidates have been frantically touring the

country to secure last minute votes.

The atmosphere among the community seemed calm today

and many seemed to have made up their minds about who had secured their votes.

Yet, there were some I spoke to who were still undecided and told me they would

cast their vote once they were in that booth. This only echoes yesterday’s

article in which I revealed that one in four voters had still not made up their

minds.

As well as the general election voters have been

asked to vote for their local candidates as well. Our online poll reveals that

Naomi Smith (the Liberal Democrats candidate) is in the lead so far with 69 per

cent of the votes.
