Residents of Tintern House on the Abbots Manor Estate joined forces with

staff members of CityWest

Homes recently to give the Pimlico estate a complete makeover.

CityWest Homes run the estate and decided it was time to take action with

the assistance of local residents. The joint effort led to some hard work,

which certainly paid off as they managed to repaint railings and walls, plant

new flower boxes, shape trees and shrubs, and cut down weeds that had overgrown

behind the block.

CityWest Homes currently manage around 22,000 homes on behalf of the Westminster Council

and spend on average about £4.5 million per year on tidying and maintaining the

appearance of estates in the community.

Teresa Caiazzo, secretary of the Abbots Manor residents’ association,

commented on the proud achievements of the combined efforts: “We’ve achieved

what we set out to do and we hope that people will come out and appreciate and

respect it.

“I’m very happy with the results and hope to do it another day in late

autumn or early spring next year.”
