Students from St Matthew’s school have won an award for
their outstanding singing abilities. The school, located on Old Pye Street, was
also named as a ‘platinum singing school’ by the Sing Up Awards.
The awards aim to recognise schools that put singing at the
heart of their learning activities, giving pupils the opportunity to express
themselves by singing as soloists in front of their classmates or as part of
groups.
The St Matthew’s students were presented with their award
last Friday at their Christmas carol service, which was held at the St
Matthew’s Church in Great Porter Street.
The award was officially endorsed by Jan Wilson, who
represented the Westminster Music Service. The students were highly praised for
their commitment to singing, especially their ability to perform a wide range
of songs.
The students were given a certificate, plaque and banner to
mark their achievements in singing.
If you are a student at St Matthew’s then we’d love to hear
of your achievements or see photos loaded onto the site.
