A fantastic collection of rare photos, engravings and sketching

have been selected from Westminster’s archives to represent each day of the

year with a historical event.

Among the pictures is one of an air raid warden stood

outside St Gabriel’s School (pictured) and the public in mourning along Vauxhall Bridge

Road as they pay their final respects to King George V who passed away on 20

January, 1936. The pictures, from the last 400 years, are to be serialised

online.

A new image will be uploaded onto Westminster Council’s

website every day, with captions and explanations that detail the story behind

the picture.

The project, known as A Date with History, can be viewed at www.westminster.gov.uk/archives/day-by-day More information can be obtained by

calling Westminster Archives directly on 020 7641 5180.

I love it, they are interesting photos too. That's a really nice story.

The link to the council website doesn't work, it has a full stop at the end which it should not have.
