Some of you may have noticed over the last

few days that it happens to be London Fashion Week (LFW) at the moment. For

those of you who were not aware of this…now you know! The week began on Friday

18 February with SW1 playing host to some fashion designers shows. Today is the

final day so we thought we’d fill you in with a little round-up of SW1’s

events.

Two shows took place on the first day:

Irwin & Jordan kicking things off around lunchtime and Sass & Bide

displaying their autumn and winter collections for 2011 later in the afternoon.

Irwin & Jordan’s design signatures are described on the LFW website as

“Clean and elegant, with a boyish twist,” while Sass & Bide (two friends

from Australia) describe their trademark piece as “A floor-length silk taffeta

ikat skirt.”

Kinder Aggugini was on show the following

day. Originating from “Milan via Glasgow” the designer’s signatures are quoted

on the site as looking like “Coco Chanel marries Sid Vicious.”

Sunday afternoon saw the popular Welshman

Matthew Williamson display his collections in SW1. The successful designer has

enjoyed a glittering career that has gone from strength to strength. He’s been

lauded with various awards, produces four women’s wear collections annually,

boasts a large customer portfolio, flagship stores in London, New York and

Dubai, collaborations with high street chain H&M, and a foray into a

menswear collection that is set to increase his brands profile. Williamson’s

collections are always hugely anticipated at London Fashion Week.

The final SW1 showing was yesterday, 22

February. Roksanda Ilincic, who graduated from Central St Martins where she

studied Womenswear, took up a lunchtime slot. When asked for the LFW website to

name three things that inspired her for her autumn/winter collection she

replied: “Dark clouds, metal flowers and the Brontë sisters.”

We’d love to hear from Pimlico’s very own

fashionistas, whether you want to share your comments or upload photos of your

own designs.
