I have recently discovered that the Westminster City Council is proposing to introduce 24/7 parking charges.

As an elderly person living in Pimlico it is of great concern that the few visitors that I have will be put off from visiting me thus increasing my sense of isolation.

On top of this there is the factor that younger householders who are struggling to meet their mortgage payments will over time find that the value of their homes will be eroded as people move out to more favourable areas to live and that the wonderful diversity of Westminster will be eroded.

I have written to my Ward Councillor about this, by email, and would encourage others to do so before it is too late.

It seems that the best way to find and contact your councillor is through the Westminster City Council web site or put it through Google.

The Westminster City Council really needs to think about all the social implications of such a sweeping new proposal, particulaly from the residents quality of life point of view, it is up to us, the tax-paying voters, to ensure that they do so.
