Like Carthage, Pimlico School has now been razed to the ground. I cannot confirm whether, like the Romans, Bouygues are also spreading salt on the ground, but they are certainly steamrollering the site. Far be it from me to say the building is an ex-building.

I never liked the old Brutalist building but it was a bit of a z-list celebrity so while I knew something big was going on, I never twigged that it would be gone completely. If I had read Londonist more assiduously, I guess I would have known: http://tinyurl.com/33gb4qs

In its place are emerging some colourful (I use the term loosely to describe some "trendy" orange and blue) blocks that, perhaps appropriately, look like they were designed by adults and children working together. Possibly an improvement but that is not saying much.

A sad day for lovers of Brutalism. But that ain't me, no siree.
