Churchill Gardens has been selected as the first primary school in Westminster to participate in The Bridge Project – a classical music initiative to encourage cultural diversity amongst performers and audiences. Specialist musicianship teaching will take place in reception class for children aged 5 and after a year of learning about music through song, movement and play, they will progress to the violin.
Initial funding for this long term project has come from London Music Masters, a charity providing long term music education programmes for children from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. One of their key objectives is to involve the whole family in the musical experience by encouraging parents to come in to school for practise sessions and teaching them how to support the children in their practise at home.
