Westminster - Holocaust Memorial Day 2013 Sunday 27th January 7 p.m
By londononline | Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 19:22
On Sunday 27th January communities across the UK and the world will commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. Events marking this important day will be held in Town halls, Churches, Museums and other public venues. It is essential that those who lost their lives during the Holocaust are remembered and that we learn from the past. Six million Jews and others died before Hitler was defeated in 1945. The First Holocaust Memorial Day was held in 2001. On January 27th 1945, the Red Army liberated the concentration camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland from the Nazis.
The theme for HMD 2013 is Communities Together: Build a Bridge. Watch the film.
In Westminster an event The Music and Poetry of Viktor Ullman will take place at the LJS 27th January 7 p.m. Piano sonatas played by Maria Garzon, poetry read by Sam Dastor
