Pimlico may be home to a new shop soon if Gerald Grosvenor, sixth Duke of Westminster, gets his way.

The country's richest property owner, reportedly worth £6.7 billion, has become notorious for opening "pop-up" shops in London's most prestigious streets after coming up with the idea in 2008; the idea being to reopen empty space that had been left lying around for more than two months and giving smaller, independent businesses and local artists a chance to sell their products and showcase their work respectively. Grosvenor then hands over the property rent free as an added bonus.

The generosity of Grosvenor can save temporary tenants up to £20,000 on two months worth of rent in some of the posher parts of the capital.

The next destination, it seems, will be closer to home. Grosvenor is currently undergoing talks with Clipper Teas over the possibility of opening a temporary shop on the Pimlico Road. Clipper Teas are notorious for being the first brand in the UK to carry the Fairtrade mark.

What do you think of Grosvenor's idea? Do you have a business you'd like to get off the ground? How do you feel about a pop-up shop opening on the Pimlico Road? Share your thoughts with us.

There is also a 'Pop Up Space' now in Moreton Street. I think it's great if it's bonafide businesses and it's well advertised, but not if it's let to poor quality retailers, who will just dissappear after selling customers rubbish.
