Pimlico police 'open mind' over Hani Abou El Kheir murder motive

Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses and information after Hani Abou El Kheir was murdered in Pimlico on Sunday.

Police were called at about 6.50pm after reports that a youth had been stabbed in Lupus Street, Pimlico.

Hani, 16, from Churchill Gardens Estate, was found and was taken by the London Ambulance Service to Kings College Hospital. He died at 8.35pm following attempts to to save his life by paramedics.

Flowers and tributes have been left at the scene. A Facebook group called RIP Hani About El Keir with hundreds of messages with one friend describing Hani as 'sweet as a nut' and 'would never hurt a fly'.

A post-mortem examination held on yesterday (Tuesday) gave cause of death as multiple stab and incised wounds.

An incident room has opened under Detective Chief Inspector Neil Attewell of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command (HSCC).

A spokesman said: "It is believed Hani was assaulted by several youths. We are retaining an open mind regarding any motive at this stage."
