£10.1 million was injected into the resurrection of the estate, which was built by Mansell Construction Services and designed by architects Haworth Tompkins. The complete makeover included new housing, an improved play area for children, a new community hall, garden spaces for older people and offices for the tenants' association.
The Housing Design Awards award those that have the best housing schemes. Judging is based upon things such as safety, construction and accessibility. Peabody Avenue was a 2011 completed project winner.
The New London Awards look into the capital's top projects across twelve sectors such as conservation, environment, waste, and energy. Winners are categorised as built and unbuilt. Peabody Avenue's award was given for the built winner in the Living category.
