Pimlico Academy was visited by Falkland Islanders
Pippa Christie and Nadia Smith were specially selected by their government to take part in the two-week visit to London. Whilst in the city they took part in the Commonwealth Youth Parliament, a union of two representatives from each of the Commonwealth Nations.
During the meeting with Pimlico Academy's students the girls spoke of their experiences growing up in the British ruled Falkland Islands situated 8,000 miles away close to South America. They then listened to what it was like growing up in Pimlico and London.
The trip was organised with the hope that the girls will gain enough to set up their own youth parliament back home. The islands' population of 3,000 are very interested in politics so the girls, who grew up there but went to universities in the UK, are hoping their experience will benefit in achieving their goals.
