Bessborough Centre spent £3.5 million on the refurbishment so a royal guest was the perfect choice for the opening, which took place yesterday (October 26). Camilla met with families and staff are unveiling a plaque that marked the opening.
Bessborough Centre, originally opening in 1937, have previous links to royalty when the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth opened the original Maternity and Child Welfare Centre and the Westminster Day Nursery.
The new centre now boasts a nursery with 50 childcare places, three play areas, a sensory room, a space for family health services, and a garden. The refurbishment was financed by Westminster Council and the CLCH NHS Trust.
