Locals form a vigilante group against Pimlico robbers

In the last three weeks Pimlico has had an apparent surge in muggings by knifepoint; eight women and two men have so far been targeted by the thieves who have been nicknamed the "Pimlico Prowlers."

The robbers work in groups of four and have targeted their victims' money, jewellery and watches. Police are investigating but are, at the moment, not yet linking the crimes.

Distressed residents who are fearing their once calm streets are now taking matters into their own hands by forming vigilante groups. Night-time patrols will be carried out around the neighbourhood by a united band including Mike Thomas, Andrea Smith, Lorne Roper and Trish Thomas. The hiring of private security guards are being considered by the groups if the attacks continue. 

The police have issued a statement calling for the residents to take caution and that they are doing everything they can. Two youths have been arrested so far in the ongoing investigation.
